  • Soil Geography and Geoarchaeology
  • Human-environment interactions in the Holocene: Soils as a resource for and archive of human activity on different spatial and temporal scales
  • Changes in soil properties induced by land use and climate change, and analysis of the underlying processes (soil formation – soil degradation)
  • Current investigation areas: European and Asian loess and steppe landscapes, especially in Central Europe, Russia and the Middle East, the Alps, and the African savannah (Serengeti)
