Research interest

My research focuses on adaptability of invasive grassland species to high levels of UV-B radiation and the impact of UV-B radiation as a potentially selective environmental filter during plant invasions in the Southern hemisphere. To assess UV-B adaptability of invasive species and to what extent pre-adaptation, local adaptation and phenotypic plasticity contribute to invasion success in high-UV-B environments, I perform reciprocal common garden experiments with native and exotic populations of invasive species under artificial and natural radiation conditions in Germany and New Zealand.
